Renowned psychiatrist with more than 25 years of experience across multiple disciplines and specialising in the assessment and treatment of adults, children and young people with psychiatric disorders, substance misuse and impact of stress on health and wellbeing.
Dr Laukens’ clinical philosophy is to foster a deep connection with the patient and work collaboratively to enhance insight and recovery. This deeper approach assists with identifying any underlying conditions which might have caused or aggravated the issue or condition.
Dr Laukens has in-depth experience of a broad spectrum of mental health difficulties including depression and anxiety, trauma therapy, ADHD, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, and emotional needs relating to physical or chronic illness.
Qualifications and Experience
After obtaining her degree in medicine in 1994, Dr Laukens worked in General Practice and later Obstetrics and Gynecology, which sparked her interest in women’s health and high prevalence disorders, including anxiety disorders, PTSD and depression. In 2006 Dr Laukens began to transition into psychiatry and was awarded fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry in 2016.
